Susan K. Painter

Program Officer, Crohn's Disease

Susan K. Painter serves as Program Officer for the Crohn's Disease Program at the Helmsley Charitable Trust.

Before joining Helmsley, Susan developed and implemented grants in higher education for the Merck Institute of Science Education, specializing in providing opportunities for students underrepresented in the sciences.  In addition to program development and implementation, her experience in grant management includes awards selection, financial oversight, and evaluation. Susan has also held positions in clinical research, drug development, and basic science research in industry and academia.

Susan is a concerned and active resident of her community and has held leadership positions on the local arts council and food policy council and is an ardent advocate for the urban agriculture movement.

Susan earned a Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and received a Master of Public Affairs and Politics from the Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy at Rutgers University.
